Una fusión entre conservación ambiental, arte y lujo es el resultado de una colección exclusiva de relojes de la firma suiza Jaeger-LeCoultre, que se inspiró en la costarricense Isla del Coco. La exclusiva obra de arte tiene un costo superior a los US$100.000 (el precio exacto se reserva únicamente para los clientes interesados) y se trata de una colección de 12 relojes que se estarán distribuyendo en los próximos meses. De acuerdo con Joanna Schroedel, gerente de ventas regional de Jaeger-LeCoultre, la idea surgió tras una conversación sobre nuevos negocios con Carlo Corazza, propietario de Tiempo Global, representante exclusivo de la firma suiza en Costa Rica. “Nosotros tenemos un convenio con UNESCO desde 2008 y como la Isla del Coco es Patrimonio de la Humanidad, me puse a buscar una pintura que representara esta isla. Art Review - Costa Rica Inside We just discovered an image, painted by the german born painter and visionary Hans G. Doller. The work was done in 1991, and is entitled: And the Stones are crying! There are three figures (Chinese, Arab and Russian) gambling on a table, which is in the shape of the United States. The four presidents of Mount Rushmore are crying in the back. When you are aware of the events unfolding in the world today, this vision (18 years ago) is about to become reality. With the spiraling debt of the U.S., and taking in consideration who is financing it, Doller's painting is right to the point. Doller has lived in various countries, and with different cultures and societies. This has given him a global scope of "Humanity in Progress". His latest work is inspired by this theme. Living in Costa Rica at the present time, Doller was moved by the obvious effects of Global Warming in a country where vast Rainforest's are slowly disappearing, being replaced by Beachfront Resorts and Highrise Condo's. Sept. 11. . . one year later Lady Liberty maintains her vigil below during an angry New York sky. The figure is part of a painting by Hans Doller. The work was done in 1992 to mark the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s voyage to the New World. However, the image seemed appropriate for today, the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington and the terrorist-caused air disaster in Pennsylvania. Costa Rica staff If you get the opportunity one day to sit down and talk to this German man who moved 26 years ago to Miami Fla., you probably will just consider him one more 1970s hippie. He probably was. Certainly he lived by selling his works on the street. That characterization is no way to understand his sense of humor that combines with his feeling for colors and his inspiration and creativity. As he says himself, "Art for me is not supposed to be restricted by anything. Art is the freedom to explore anything, sin limites. Cafe changes hands with the help of Hans By the A.M. Costa Rica staff About 60 people showed up Thursday night to celebrate the change of ownership of Café de Artistas in Escazú. The new owner, William Hill, hosted German artist Hans Doller, who is a former resident of Costa Rica. Doller is known for his surrealistic paintings. The cafe on a side street in San Rafael de Escazú has been known for fostering the arts. Doller displayed about 20 of his paintings, and at least three were sold by evening’s end.
